Hungary's Only Legal Gravity Bike Park Opens New Family-Friendly Trail
- 6 Aug 2026 8:20 AM
This new addition in Eplény officially opens with a special launch weekend on 6-7 August, when registered visitors can ride the trail free of charge and receive two hours of complimentary chairlift access.
The 2.4-kilometre trail features gentle gradients, smooth rollers and wide banked turns, allowing children, families and novice riders to mountain bike with confidence in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Located around 130 kilometres west of Budapest, the Eplény facility is unique as Hungary's only legal gravity bike park. A four-person chairlift carries cyclists and their bikes to the top of 525-metre Ámos Hill, where a growing network of professionally designed downhill and flow trails caters for riders of all abilities.
The park has become a popular summer destination not only for mountain bikers but also for walkers and sightseeing visitors. The chairlift offers panoramic views across the Bakony Mountains, while forest trails around the upper station provide welcome shade during the hottest days of the season.
Dogs are also welcome, with the dedicated Yellow Paws Trail allowing owners to explore the area with their pets.
The addition of the Family Flowline is expected to attract even more visitors, particularly as the nearby EuroVelo 13 Iron Curtain Trail passes close to Eplény, making the bike park an appealing stop for both domestic cyclists and international visitors touring Hungary by bike.
