The Hungarian government wants to definitely avoid a situation where Ukraine’s fast-tracked accession to the European Union would make Hungary a destination for hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian jobseekers and a "gateway for the Ukrainian mafia", Peter Szijjarto, the foreign minister said.
A Budapest visit by the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) "is part of a pact" between opposition Tisza Party and Brussels, an official of the ministry of EU affairs said on Wednesday, adding that Brussels wants to have a puppet government to lead Hungary.
"There is no middle ground; it is either the Pride or Orban," Ferenc Gyurcsany, the leader of the opposition Democratic Coalition (DK), said on Facebook.
A United States of Europe will come about, "but whether we Hungarians will be in it is a big question", Klara Dobrev, the MEP of the opposition Democratic Coalition (DK), told an event commemorating Hungary's 1848-49 revolution and freedom fight in Budapest.
