Locals Furious About Noisy Helicopters Over Budapest Ferrying Rich Visitors to F1 Race
Gergely Karácsony is being urged to take action before next year’s Hungarian Formula One auto race against the numerous helicopters ferrying rich visitors between central Budapest and the Hungaroring race track.

Website 444 received multiple complaints all weekend from readers about low-flying helicopters practically every minute over the downtown area.

The airborne taxi service operated over the three days of the race weekend between Budaörs Airfield and the Hungaroring.

One company operating the service, Flycoop, says on its website that one trip costs €290, and return tickets €500.

“Never again helicopter taxis”, mayor Karácsony wrote last year, adding “I would not like the people of Budapest to have to live through the Hungarian Gand Prix weekend or any other similar occasions, with ears plugged in the future” and promised to take action.

Karácsony wrote on social media yesterday that as mayor his power is limited and the only thing he can do is to avail himself of his right to put forward proposals to the government.
