MOL Chairman Highly Critical of Special Taxes in Hungary
MOL chairman and CEO Zsolt Hernádi has written an opinion article in Mandiner, fiercely criticising the special taxes recently levied by the government.

“Fourteen new taxes have been introduced in the last two years”, he wrote. “Where has the predictable tax system gone?”

In the past two years, Hungary’s largest companies, including OTP, MBH, Richter, Magyar Telekom, 4iG, and MOL, have paid close to Ft 800 billion in extra taxes. That amount could have built six Mercedes factories in Kecskemét, according to Hernádi.

“For how long will these ‘extraordinary’ taxes be maintained?” he asked, likening them to the Soviet troops that were “temporarily” stationed in Hungary before 1990.

Hernádi also demands to know “When will we return to normality? When will we revert to tried and true methods instead of unorthodox measures?”.
