The ministry explained that “a leader who does not comply with the law and openly opposes it cannot run a state institution.”
The dismissal followed the school’s announcement that, despite a new regulation, they would not confiscate students’ mobile phones and other digital devices before classes in the upcoming school year.
Telex’s report also pointed out that the school emphasized on its website, “The pedagogical goal of our school is to educate students on the proper use of digital culture, not to impose bans.”
The school’s leadership argued that it would be “unrealistic” to collect mobile phones before classes, as they might be needed during lessons. While the school’s code of conduct already included rules on mobile phone use and limitations on recording, teachers urged students not to risk confiscation by misbehaving during lessons.
The regulation on banning certain items from schools, including the requirement to turn in smartphones, was issued on August 8, the report notes. It aimed to restrict mobile phone use in schools starting from the new school year, affecting primary schools, high schools, and vocational high schools.
The Democratic Union of Teachers (PDSZ) had previously criticized the decree as poorly conceived and underdeveloped.
