Lavender Festival at Lake Tisza in Hungary, 14 -15 June
The Lake Tisza Lavender Festival in Tiszaderzs (Northern Great Plain region of central Hungary) will take place between June 14-15 as Lake Tisza’s mini summer festival, combining carefree relaxation with art and active pastimes.

Now in its fourth year, the festival aims to promote the values of Tiszaderzs and provide a relaxing and idyllic atmosphere on the shores of Lake Tisza, Turizmus.com reports.

On the eve of the festival, Friday afternoon June 14, the programs will start with an exhibition by Szakkör (“Workshop”) and continue with a blues concert in the evening in the garden of the church ruins, the organizers said.

Norbert Nikodém, jazz musician from Tiszaderzs, has invited Caribbean-American singer, pianist, producer, and songwriter Kasai Jnofinn to join him at the event.

The atmosphere of the garden of the 13th century church ruins and the music will come together in perfect harmony.

The next day, in the lavender garden, there will be several family activities from the morning: yoga for children and adults, handicraft activities, folk games, a local handicraft market, bake sale, and a village tour by bike.

During the day, Kitti Szabó from Abádszalók will play music, and the Tavirózsa folk choir from Tiszaderzs will sing together. The nearby “Magőrlő” Art Center will host the opening of an exhibition of graphic artist Márta Sipos.

Tiszaderzs started planting its first lavender plants in 2019, and since then the garden has been home to thousands of beautiful flowers. Today, more than 6,000 lavender plants are blooming on nearly 7,000 square meters, and the area around Lake Tisza is also a wonder to behold.

In a short time, the lavender field on Lake Tisza has become a favorite with locals and tourists alike, making the village famous throughout the country.

This year, the “Pick-Your-Own” Lavender Days will take place from June 17 to 21, a tradition that started in 2020. The event has now grown into a multi-day family program where visitors can pick their own lavender and enjoy a variety of activities during the weekend.
