Xpat Report: Muaythai Day 2024 in Budapest
The Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest organised the Muaythai Day event on 15 February 2024 at Vilmos Endre Sportcentrum, in collaboration with the Hungarian Muaythai Federation and Thai President Foods (Hungary).

This event was organised to celebrate the National Muaythai Day, which was designated to be on February 6 since 2011. The event aims to introduce Muaythai which is a cultural heritage of Thailand, to the Hungarian community especially to the children and youth.



The celebration included an opening ceremony with speeches by Mr. Nopakhun Luichant, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest, which layout a short briefing of the history of Mauthai Day, followed by the remarks of Mr. Dudok Károly, President of the Hungarian Muaythai Federation.

The stage performances showcased Muaythai movements from the Hungarian Muaythai Federation and the traditional umbrella dance.



Additionally, Mr. Dudok Károly led the Muaythai workshop throughout the day with approximately 150 primary and secondary school students. Apart from that, this event also gained attention from Hungarian media, including M1 Channel - at 41.07minutes, which reported on this event during the evening news broadcast as shown in the link below.

This very first celebration of Muaythai Day in Hungary was well-received, particularly by the Hungarian children and youth, marking significant step in promoting Muaythai to gain more popularity and recognition within Hungary and worldwide.
