Festival Guide: Top 15 Concerts @ Sziget Budapest - “Island of Freedom” - Part 2
100+ nationalities are represented at Sziget each year, with people coming from as far away as New Zealand. So for expats living in Hungary it’s a golden opportunity to see a wide range of top international artists play live at the “Island of Freedom”. Here in part 2 of this preview are 8-15 of the biggest gigs this year for your interest and reference - click any title below for more info and a video.

8. Sven Väth, 11 August

The artist who has done so much to influence and shape club culture still likes playing  records to people more than anything else. That’s Sven for you.  See more here!

9. Editors, 11 August

Editors have never been a band who do what’s expected. When they emerged in the early 2000s, university friends from Birmingham, they were swept into a wave of indie groups with whom they had little in common beyond playing guitars. See more here!

10. Becky Hill, 11 August

Becky Hill doesn’t do rules. A hit machine since her teens, the pop powerhouse has forged her own particular path to fame. See more here!

11. Fontaines D.C., 11 August

‘Skinty Fia,’ the title of the much-anticipated third album by Fontaines D.C, translates to English as “the damnation of the deer.” See more here!

12. Crystal Fighters, 11 August

Crystal Fighters have always sought to open themselves up to the world. After all, they’re inherently a fusion concept – part British and part Basque; part old and part new; part pop and part traditional. See more here!

13. Four Tet, 12 August

Four Tet is the electronic outlet for the solo work of Keiran Hebden. First single was the 36-minute ‘Thirtysixtwentyfive’ on Trevor Jackson's Output Recordings label (1998). ‘Dialogue’ was Four Tet's first full-length album, fusing hip-hop drum lines with dissonant jazz samples. See more here!

14. RAYE, 12 August

Four times BRIT nominated, RAYE is one of the most streamed artists in the world with over 3 billion streams of her music. In the UK she has a double-platinum, five platinum, four gold and four silver singles to her name, plus multiple international accreditations. See more here!

15. Fred Again..., 12 August

Festival season is hotting up in Hungary, so here's a guide to what's worth visiting for a one-off concert or a week long party in the open air. The biggie is always Sziget, this year with Billie Eilish and Sleaford Mods headlining, but it’s worth considering the more niche, boutique bashes like V4, SZIN, Katlan, OZORA, and the cultish Kolorádó in the Buda hills.

The Hey, June! programme series is as old as Müpa Budapest itself. It was first held in 2005, and has taken place at the end of the academic year ever since, ushering in the holidays and the festival season as an in-house mini-festival that opens the door to every aspect of this new beginning, welcoming the summer and giving us good reason to celebrate.
