Contamination Strikes Hungarian Drinking Water - Worms in Pilis Water Storage Basins?
The Metropolitan Government Office has ordered a ban on drinking water in Pilis after reports of maggots found in the water in several households.

Residents will receive three litres of water per person per day from the Dabas and Area Waterworks until the network is disinfected.

The decision followed social media posts showing worms in the water, with some claiming it affected multiple households.

In response, the waterworks company stated the contamination probably affected one street only and that the pollution was not caused by their operations.

Following further investigation, authorities determined that the problem had probably originated in the water storage basins, where worms were found in two of the three basins.

Disinfection was scheduled for Tuesday.

Water tanks have been placed in several areas of Pilis to provide temporary water supply, and the government office will reassess the situation once disinfection is complete.
