Winners for 'Adopt a Castle' Programme Announced in Hungary
Minister of Construction and Transport János Lázár announced the first four winners of Hungary’s “Adopt a Castle” scheme in a Facebook post on Friday.

Out of eight castles offered, four will now be managed by private companies and municipalities.

Nádasdy Castle in Nádasdladány goes to Richter Pharmaceuticals, while the MOL New Europe Foundation takes over Sándor Metternich Castle in Bajna.

The municipality of Oroszlány will manage Esterházy Castle in Majk, and Hódmezővásárhely’s municipality, led by Péter Márki-Zay, will oversee the Wenckheim Manor in Szabadkígyós.

Lázár emphasised that private and municipal management will ensure better maintenance while keeping the sites accessible.

Due to strong interest, 20 more castles and stately homes will be offered for adoption later this month.
