Orbán to Meet Trump Soon?
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will visit Washington, D.C., on November 7 for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, government officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to Gergely Gulyás, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders will discuss energy, economic and financial cooperation, as well as prospects for achieving peace in ongoing international conflicts.

Gulyás noted that preparations for the meeting have been underway for some time, aiming to strengthen both Hungarian–U.S. relations and Hungary’s economic interests. He said that new agreements covering energy, military, economic, and financial cooperation are expected to be adopted.

The talks will also include an exchange of views on possible steps toward peace, including a roadmap that could eventually lead to a U.S.–Russian meeting and, in turn, a Russian–Ukrainian peace agreement.

Gulyás added that both sides agree Budapest would serve as the venue for a planned peace summit, a point on which there has been no disagreement.

The meeting will conclude with a joint press announcement in the Oval Office, following standard White House protocol.

The Minister emphasized the importance of the meeting, describing Prime Minister Orbán as “the only European leader in office consistently advocating for peace and dialogue with the warring parties over the past three and a half years,” while noting that President Trump has pursued a similar approach since returning to office in January.

Orban: Aim of Washington visit to shape strategic-economic cooperation with Trump administration

Prime Minister Viktor Orban said shaping Hungary's strategic and economic cooperation with the administration of United States President Donald Trump was the purpose of a visit to Washington D.C. in the coming days, in a video message on Facebook on Wednesday.

Orban noted that sanctions against Hungary "of a political nature" introduced by the Biden administration had been rolled back in the past six months. "The next step is to shape a strategic-economic cooperation with the Trump administration," he added.

In the interest of achieving that goal, Orban said a big Hungarian-US economic cooperation package had been put together.
