Tori Amos to Present Her New Album at Budapest's Erkel Theatre
- 7 Oct 2025 1:59 PM
Amos will be performing in Hungary again after a break of almost twenty years; previously in 2007 she gave a successful concert at the Papp László Sports Arena Budapest.
Her European tour next year is in support of her new, eighteenth studio album, In Times of Dragons, due out in 2026.
The American singer-songwriter, who has sold over twelve million records and received eight Grammy nominations, has a new album that combines political and personal themes. The album is also a lyrical summary of the singer's 35-year career to date.
"In Times of Dragons is a metaphorical story of the struggle between democracy and tyranny, reflecting the current, deliberately induced and horrifying decline of democracy," Amos is quoted as saying.
This defining and inspiring figure of contemporary music was born in 1963 as Myra Ellen Amos. She first sat down at the piano at the age of two and a half, began composing instrumental pieces at the age of five, and was already writing lyrics for her pieces at the age of nine.
She gained public attention in 1977 when she won a talent contest with her song "More Than Just A Friend." She also won a contest with her first single, "Baltimore," during her senior year of high school. It was during this time that she adopted the stage name Tori.
Tori Amos, who was already at the forefront of female singer-songwriters in the early nineties, was among the first to use the piano as her main instrument.
Her songs are largely lyrical in mood, mostly with emotionally charged themes, in which sexuality finds its place as much as religion, personal tragedies, or father-centeredness.
Her chart-topping songs include Crucify, Silent All These Years, Cornflake Girl, Caught A Lite Sneeze, Professional Widow, and God.
Tori Amos' new album tour will take place in seventeen countries in April and May 2026. The concert series will start in Sheffield on April 8, arrive in Budapest from Frankfurt, and continue on to Milan. The final stop will be in Vilnius on May 30.
This time, she will be accompanied by her old, loyal musical companions: musical director and bassist Jon Evans, drummer Ash Soan, and backing vocalists Liv Gibson, Deni Hlavlinka and Hadley Kennary.
The tour's concerts will feature songs from In Times of Dragons, as well as her most memorable compositions.
