Prospective bidders must pay a security deposit of just over Ft 7 billion by January 8 in order to participate in the auction scheduled for January 10-13.
The building was renovated in 2022 at a cost of Ft 280 million, when then-president Katalin Novák moved in. Following her resignation in 2024, she vacated the residence six months later.
Her successor, Tamás Sulyok, opted instead for the former government guesthouse on Művész út, known as Villa Karády, also in the Buda hills, renovated by the government at a cost of Ft 300 million.
