They wrote that Hungary's ruling leadership, in power since 2010, had not served the nation or its citizens, but considered creating and running its own ruling class as its primary task.

The statement added that "the most important thing" was to topple the government, and it recognised that the party "should not run in the 2026 parliamentary election".

"We are making a gesture now so that the country can move in a better direction, but we are committed to ... building a just, green Hungary of solidarity, where there is room for ... political debates and a diverse, competing, values-based offering," the statement concluded.
