Official Review of Dog Shelters in Hungary to Start
Laszlo Gajdos, the minister of the living environment, said on Facebook on Monday that a nationwide assessment of dog shelters will get under way.

"The type of animal control facilities a country operates reveals a great deal about it," he said in a video attached to the post.

"It is a matter close to my heart that municipal animal control facilities meet appropriate standards and strictly adhere to animal welfare principles," he added.

He said they were beginning to review the facilities and conduct on-site inspections.

"We will visit these locations, assess the situation, and then, together with the local governments, we will work to transform these shelters into modern European-standard facilities as soon as possible," Gajdos said.
