First St. David's Day Festival In Budapest, March 1st 2010
Around 200 Xpats joined guests of honour HM Ambassador Dorey and President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Professor Pálinkás, at the first celebration in Budapest of the Welsh National Day.
After entertaining opening speeches, Matt Foster, of sponsor REED Specialist Recruitment, warmly welcomed guests together with Stephen Linfitt, publisher of XpatLoop.com and organiser of the event.
Cultural highlights sponsored by Concert Masters International included The Banchieri Singers, a six strong vocal ensemble performing arrangements in Welsh, English and Hungarian. Also John Asquith came from the UK to read, in English, 'The Bards of Wales' ballad by Hungarian poet János Arany.
Also during this celebration of the 'Red Dragon' guests were able to make free phone calls to family and friends in Wales, and to anywhere else in the world, thanks to Intellicom.
Sponsor and event MC, Mr Llyr Roberts the CEO in the Danubian Region of Prysmian.com, rounded-off the successful event with a Welsh Quiz, featuring prizes from Holmes Place Budapest.
Throughout the celebration the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal served up traditional Welsh dishes, along with beer; wine and soft drinks, and the Caledonia Pub provided a taste of authentic Welsh Whisky.
