Long Night Of Museums In Budapest, 22 June 2013
The Long Night of Museums was organized in Budapest for the 11th time, and for the 9th time around the country, where thousands of programs awaited visitors at more than 300 venues.
The aim was to bring the general public to public collections and into the institutions, and to dispel the belief that a museum was just a boring walk seeing dusty, inanimate objects, and to make it fashionable to visit museums.
In the 6th district, you could find a taste of India at the György Ráth Museum and the Ferenc Hopp Museum with opening speeches by Ms. Györgyi Fajcsák, (Director of the Hopp Museum), by Mr. Zsombor Jékely (Deputy Director of the Museum of Applied Arts) and by H.E. Mr. Gauri Shankar Gupta (Ambassador of India).
Then onto the fun with Odissi dance performance by Ms. Sandhyadipa Kar, the Meshinda concert, the Edward Powell concert and some taste of India by Shalimar Restaurant. The program also included Indian markets, henna painting, Indian doll workshop and a Kathak workshop by Mr. Dhruv Pandey. On this hot night, you certainly got a flavor and taste of India, which added some spice to this long night of Museums.
