Donau Masters International In Budapest, 6 July
It was like from the “Italian Job”, “Goldfinger” or “Fast and Furious” films. At 6pm on Saturday, a cavalcade of classic cars whizzed across the Chain Bridge with a police escort, and landed at Széchenyi Square (formerly Roosevelt Square) in front of the MTA building.
The watching crowd saw the “Donau Masters International” old timer auto tour arrive in Budapest, approximately 80 in total. The cars, all produced before 1977, had driven through Austria and Slovakia to finally arrive in Budapest.
Amongst the vehicles, produced prior to December 31, 1977, classic German (Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche), English (Austin Healey, Triumph, Rolls Royce, Jaguar) and Italian cars (Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat) were represented.
The organizers and the participants – similar to last years – support the SOS Children Villages, located along the route, altogether with 10 000 Euro. These amazing cars were the stars of the day. Unfortunately, for the ladies, there were no James Bonds, just a few dare devil drivers.
