United Way Hungary: Land Cruise For A Cause

More than a hundred dedicated philanthropic business leaders, friends and supporters attended the "Land Cruise for a Cause" charity dinner in Budapest Marriott Hotel to donate money for UWH’s employability and entrepreneurship program, which has been running for two academic years now.    FRIPA, a group of high-school students held a stunning pitch on their project aimed at preventing and eliminating food waste - a pressing social, economic, health, environmental and sustainability issue.

Their innovative and highly topical project earned them United Way Hungary’s special award at the Young Entrepreneur Startup Competition of Brain Bar this May. The goal now is to take the program beyond Budapest and expand its impacts to support some 300 high-school students in disadvantaged communities in rural Hungary by the year 2021.

A total of HUF 2,155,000 was raised for the cause in ticket and raffle sales as well as pledge card donations. With Oil&Gas Development’s generous offer to match the proceeds of the raffle sales, the entire donation came to HUF 3,155,000! The event was hosted by Kata Jaksity and the entertainment highlight was a performance by Varidance Ensemble.
