Annual British International School Budapest Charity Gala

This year’s annual British International School Budapest charity gala was celebrated at the Budapest Marriott Ballroom on the banks of the Danube. The event had a 1920’s Gatsby theme.

The “Leap Night” fundraiser, held on the 29th February, welcomed the UNICEF Hungarian Commission as a charitable beneficiary to join the many charities BISB already supports. The event’s auction proceeds of over 3,000,000 Forints will go to UNICEF’s children’s programmes in Hungary. Nearly a million more Forints were raised which will support student charity programmes and other activities at BISB

The gala welcomed Antónia Mészáros, the Executive Director of the UNICEF Hungarian Commission, as the guest speaker, and Her Majesty’s Ambassador Iain Lindsay and Mrs Bridget Lindsay and as the event’s special guests of honour.

“I am delighted that the BISB Charity Gala raised more than HUF 4 million, the majority of which will support UNICEF Hungary’s programmes benefitting children in need. I thank all those who organised such a fantastic evening and all those who participated. I am very proud of BISB.” Iain Lindsay, British Ambassador to Hungary.

The Roaring Twenties inspired guests to celebrate late into night with the sounds of the internationally recognised Just Showband. BISB’s annual charity gala organised by the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is made possible by the generosity of the donors and sponsors who support the PTA’s charitable goals.
