It’s been a good couple of years since I've set foot on The Island of Freedom, but the Sziget 2017 festival line-up is one of the most exciting in a long time for many @expatintheloop. To share the pre-gig exhilaration here are our top five 'must see' acts this August, along with a few other best bets for your interest.
The Joy Division @ A38 Sziget Warm Up Party, 8 August

The Joy Division are an indie DJ trio hailing from Scotland, Germany and Serbia. They began life to help part fundraise the fantastic expat football club, Budapest Celtic but since then, The Joy Division’s audience and popularity has steadily grown. On Tuesday night you can catch them playing the official Sziget Warm up Party@A38.
'Jazz In The Summer' - Alba Regia Festival, Székesfehérvár, 7 - 9 August

From the organisers: The best Hungarian jazz and funk musicians will perform concerts in downtown of Székesfehérvár from 7 to 9 August. Random Trip, Veronica Harcsa, United Experience, Babos-László-Tátrai Trio and Mike Gotthard Electric Shock will be playing this year at Alba Regia Festival.

Four Fifths Of Hungarians Say Hosting World Aquatics Championships Was ‘Good Idea’

Fully 80% of Hungarians asked said that hosting the recent world aquatics championships was a good idea, while merely 11% said the opposite, a representative survey by Nézőpont shows. The pollster asked a sample of 1,000 just before the competitions took place from July 14 to 30, and another 500 on August 1-2.
