I've been living in Budapest since February 2015 and until very recently was working in the tourism industry. I came here with a total blank slate of almost zero knowledge about the country so have enjoyed learning about its history and culture, as well as meeting many fascinating people.

Omar spent some time in academia, his studies ranging from literature to medieval history to linguistics, and is currently in the final stages of completing his PhD thesis, after which he plans to return full-time to his father's cheese business that has taken root in Hungary and spread around the world.

Mihály Hardy has been working as a Communication Director of Budapest Airport for the past 11 years (joined BUD in February 2008). He started his career as a TV-journalist specializing in news and current affairs and foreign reporting with then-MTV or Magyar Televízió.

I first visited Budapest in 1982. I came with some friends on the overnight train from Warsaw, where I was working at the British Embassy. Howling dogs and misty border crossings - it was like living in a John le Carré novel. Budapest was shrouded in freezing fog all weekend but I still fell in love with the city.
