Nearly 2,000 Protesters Demonstrate Against Plans For Mobile Dam At Római Beach

Between 1,500 and 2,000 protesters gathered at the Római beach area of north Buda Sunday to demonstrate against plans to build a mobile dam along that section of the Danube shore. Demonstrators argue that construction of such a dam would fundamentally change the nature of what they call the last natural beach in Budapest, which is a popular recreation area for the city’s residents.

A four-day workshop conference and happening about Rákóczi square, at Rákóczi square with people from Rákóczi square.The construction of the 4th metro line started in 2006. Due to the prolonged works, the neighbourhood lost plenty of its liveability, the market hall became abandoned and square was only used for bypassing.

It’s been 150 years since Hungary’s very first zoo, the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden in the heart of the capital opened its gates to the public on August 9, 1866, writes hvg.hu. It was back at the end of the 18th century that the first public zoos were opened in Western Europe, the zoo in Vienna, for instance, began welcoming visitors in 1780.
