On 23 October Hungary marks the 58th anniversary of 1956, and it is is a national holiday. It commemorates the Revolution of 1956, when Hungarians rose up against the Soviet ruled communist system and also the ‘Day of the Republic’, as in 1989 Hungary was declared a republic. On October 22nd and 23rd there are several programs held throughout Hungary.

Alcohol consumption in Hungary is twice the global average but it's in line with the rest of Eastern Europe. A recent study by the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that, like their eastern European neighbors, Hungarians like to drink, a lot! An exhibition of Ágnes Szikra’s works has opened in iF Jazz Café on June 18, 2013. The exhibition was introduced by Rita Kéri. Music was performed by Máté Pálhegyi, Balázs Kántor and Tímea Dragony. A special opportunity to taste handmade beer, Hungarian wine, great food, fine art and live jazz music.

The head of Georgia’s Kutaisi mafia was captured by Anti-Terrorist Police in Dunakeszi on Tuesday, it was reported on Thursday. His arrest was part of an international operation in which police across Europe captured 17 members of the gang in simultaneous raids.

The criminal gang run by Obuda Island nightclub entrepreneur Laszlo Vizoviczki may have cheated the state budget of up to Ft 825.2 million in unpaid VAT in 2010-12, prosecutors said at the end of last week. Prosecutors spokesman Geza Fazekas said Vizoviczki could presumably afford to pay off police officers and possibly other officials from funds that should have gone to pay VAT.

On 15th March Hungarians commemorate the Revolution and the following War of Independence against the Austrian-Habsburg rule in 1848-49, and so this is one of the most prominent National Holidays in Hungary.

A young Indigenous game warden arrests an infamous poacher only to discover that the poacher knows the location of a plane carrying millions of dollars that has crashed in a frozen lake. When a group of criminals and dirty cops are alerted to the poacher’s whereabouts, the warden and the poacher team up to fight back and escape across the treacherous lake before the ice melts.
