Ági’s lyrical paintings do not lend themselves easily to lyrical verbalizations… A good lyrical text amplifies the sensual impression: it can create a more powerful, more beautiful experience than the reality it describes, even if it only renders the visual dimension with words.

These pictures, however, have a more condensed, more saturated „density of experience” than a good lyrical text. Such that it is difficult to approach them with poetry.

The image in the painting is of course also different from the photographic image, while it may or may not involve something that has its origin outside the visual dimension. We may not have seen it when we were there, but we can feel it now.

How is it, then, that more experience presents itself in the painting?

In a technical sense, of course, vision itself is more than what the mechanism of the camera imitates. Movement, and even a static image is different for human perception than what is recorded in a photographic image. As the eye wanders or the sight moves, the vision, the perception continuously adapts to the lights of the external landscape and the internal one. So we can work with the subtle differences of time and continuity. The changing intensity of light and color. Then the way the brush arrests the moment, the way it adjusts the moving parts to each other is also different from the way the shutter does. It may create a more sophisicated blur. Then again, the difference may lend itself to such physical, physiological descriptions, or it may not.

Then again, it may involve a degree of magic. (Rita Kéri)
