Govt Signs Development Cooperation Agreement With Sopron

The government has launched an urban development programme, under which Prime Minister Viktor Orbán signed a cooperation agreement with northwestern Hungary’s Sopron. Improving cities is crucial for Hungary’s rural development, the prime minister told a press conference. He added that similar cooperation agreements would be negotiated with all major cities of the 23 counties of Hungary.

Austrian state railway company ÖBB has delivered 10 used carriages to its Hungarian counterpart MÁV, which have undergone an overhaul and are ready for use. MÁV Start CEO György Záránd said Hungary agreed to buy 55 Lange-Schlieren trains with a maximum speed of 140kph from ÖBB after the Austrian company bought trains capable of 160-180kph.

It also was a great reason, as I found, for many to take the afternoon off work on Friday and saunter around this maze of wine producers.
