Open Pinball Championship in Budapest Due to be Flipping International Battle
Around 200 European competitors, including internationally renowned players, will compete in the Hungarian Pinball Open (HPO) pinball championship in Budapest between October 23 and 27, the organizers told MTI.

According to the press announcement, the Hungarian Pinball Open will feature a unique field: competitors from 18 countries, including England, Poland, Sweden, Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Norway, Italy, the Netherlands and Romania, will arrive at the Game Galaxy event venue on Ráday Street. The participants will also include Finnish and Swedish players who finished on the podium in recent world championships.

The multi-day tournament will feature 48 players competing in qualifiers on Thursday and another 72 players competing in two qualifiers on Friday. The event will also be streamed live on a Twitch channel this year, the press release states.

The pinball community in Hungary is naturally looking forward to the event, as the national team won the European Championship title in Austria this June. The historic victory was brought about by Gábor Solymosi, Erik Pálfi, Bálint Scholtz and Ferenc Csaplovits. All four will be at the event, the organizers wrote.

MTI were informed that one of the special features of this year's HPO is the IFPA-sanctioned women's competition, which will start on Saturday, October 25th at 7 p.m. Not only the female competitors of the HPO, but anyone - even completely new entrants - can enter the "Pace Matchplay" competition.

They also mentioned that the competition is organized by the Budapest Pinball Museum, which this year again received the Traveler's Choice 2025 award from the world's leading travel website, TripAdvisor, which can be given to a maximum of 10 percent of the places listed on the site.

The Pinball Museum in Budapest is one of the most popular thematic museums in Hungary, and has been listed on the site for many years among the capital's more quirky attractions.
