Five stages, 854 kilometres, almost 8,000 metres of climbing, 10 categorised climbs, two bunch sprints and two iconic summit finishes await the participants of the 45th Tour de Hongrie. The official route of Hungary’s biggest cycling race was presented on 5 March at Budapest Music Center with live national TV coverage.

Hosting the first three stages of this year’s Giro d’Italia cycling race “exceeded our wildest dreams”, government commissioner for an active Hungary Máriusz Révész said in a statement late on Sunday. Révész said “at least a quarter of a million people” encouraged riders along the route, contributing to “a sensational mood” and “exceeding all expectations of the Italian organisers”.
