Fidesz lawmaker Gergely Gulyás outlined a bill supporting Budapest’s bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics in parliament on Tuesday, declaring that the capital is capable of hosting a “safe and successful” event. The Hungarian Swimming Federation’s annual general meeting gave a vote of confidence in president Tamás Gyárfás with 118 affirmative votes, against only one dissension and one abstention on Sunday. Gyárfás said in a speech to the gathering that no matter how unfair he considers the attacks of recent weeks, he feels that he must tolerate the slaps and cannot hide as his responsibility is so large.
