Orbán Inaugurates Sports Facilities In Szolnok, Miskolc
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán participated at the inauguration of the Tiszaliget Stadium in Szolnok, central Hungary, on Saturday. Rebuilding the stadium cost more than 2 billion forints (EUR 6.4m), of which 600 million was covered by the local football club, 400 million by the state and the rest through corporate sponsorship linked to tax preferences, Orbán said.

The prime minister noted that the number of children and families doing more to take care of their health had grown since the introduction of daily physical education in schools. “If we want youth who are strong of body and character for our country, money must be spent on sport,” he added.

To discover new talent, all youth must be given a chance to participate in sport in the place where they live, which requires facilities, teachers, instructors and coaches, Orbán said. On Sunday, Orbán attended the opening ceremony of a new training centre for sports club DVTK in Miskolc, in northern Hungary.

In his address, the prime minister referred to sports as instrumental in “restoring Hungary’s self esteem”. Without self esteem “there is neither business nor political success” but sports can help Hungary achieve all of that, Orbán insisted. The new complex was built with a budget of nearly 900 million forints (EUR 2.9m).
