Wendy has spent the last two years teaching at the British International Schcool of Budapest, latterly as an EAL teacher where she taught children from the ages of 7 to 11. Before this she has a further 6 years experience teaching English in countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Kuwait and Malta.

Yes, it’s time again to offer praise to those young people of Hungary brave enough to step up and compete in the annual English Speaking Union’s Public Speaking Competition. This year’s event was held on April 15 in the British Embassy’s Old Banking Hall, and was witnessed by an audience of locals and expats interested in the competition.

Who didn’t want to see the mysteries hidden behind the tall walls of the factory? Who didn’t feverishly ride their bikes to the Penny Candy Store at every chance and buy sweets with grubby hands and hungry eyes?

As usual this annual expat community event was a fun day out for the whole family. Bigger and better each year, this time the entertainment included: Magic Shows, Marionette Shows, and a High School Musical Workshop.

100s of Xpats joined-in and we all raised HUF 333,000 for the 'Red Nose ClownDoctors'. Here's feedback from people you may know: "Congrats on the success of this charity event. Great cause, delicious food, quality prizes, and a fantastic time. Really, nice job. Looking forward to the next one!" Richard Adkin.

The British Ambassador to Hungary was born in London, in 1951. He was educated at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith, and then at the University of Surrey, where he graduated with First Class Honours in Linguistic and Regional Studies (German, French and Law) in 1974.
