Budapest mayor István Tarlós and 13th District mayor József Tóth opened a museum of Hungarian rock music at the Radnóti Miklós Cultural Centre on Thursday. Several members of the great generation of Hungarian pop, who forged careers in the 1960s and 1970s, attended.

On a cold, wet Sunday afternoon, what better way to enjoy yourself than with some wonderful food and drink? And the crowds did come out to enjoy the annual Mangalica Festival. If you fancy a taste of a pig that came close to extinction just a few decades ago, the magnificent mangalica meat is said to be even tastier and healthier than regular pork.

After over twenty years, the popular Irish bar will close its doors on Monday for the last time. It came in with a bang and certainly went out with one. And as sure as eggs are eggs, “Becketts” will be back again, not in another lifetime but hopefully very soon.

When it comes to giving, it is said that it is better to give than to receive. This is exactly what the NAWA have been doing a lot of recently. I went along to two events that they were hosting. The first was in a long line of events called “Adopt a Granny” and the other was a gift exchange.
