Budapest city council eased its planned changes to regulations governing the age of taxi vehicles on Wednesday. Those drivers who had a permit before April 18, when the new regulation was announced, may continue to use their cars until January 15, 2014, regardless of the age of the vehicle.

According to a previous decision of the Hungarian Government, irrespective of the Commission’s decision, extra taxes levied temporarily on certain sectors such as retail trade and telecommunication will entirely be abolished, as of 1 January 2013.
