The number of customers using car dispatcher Uber’s services in Budapest has gone up eightfold over the past 12 months to reach 80,000, the company said. Uber increased the number of its drivers to 1,200 by the end of 2015 from 200 in the beginning of the year, the company told MTI.

The technical handover of the Buda intertwining tram network has been completed on December 23, 2015, for the planned deadline, so the intertwined tram traffic can start on January 16, 2016. Hungary’s intelligent traffic surveillance system is set to be installed by the end of the year, the deputy national police chief said. The network dubbed “Véda” was financed in part by 14.5 billion forints (EUR 46m) of EU funds and will include 160 mobile speed cameras and 365 complex traffic control points on a total of 134 roads, Zsolt Halmosi told a press conference.
