Police yesterday dismissed the trustworthiness of the leaked recording suggesting that Fidesz committed electoral fraud at the recent Baja local by-election. The mobile phone footage was shot on October 15, after the by-election, and was completely staged, they explained.

The leak of a video implicating Fidesz in further electoral misconduct in Baja led to accusations and counter accusations over the weekend. A film recorded on October 12 and posted on website hvg.hu on Friday seemingly shows a Fidesz fixer handing over cash to Roma people in exchange for votes in the recent Baja repeated by-election, held after a court had found Fidesz guilty of electoral fraud.

I simply can’t understand the Hungarian opposition’s lack of initiative and its sluggish reactions to unacceptable actions that are being taken day in and day out by Fidesz and the Fidesz-ruled parliament.
