The trade surplus grew to €761.7 million in June, from €570.8 million one year earlier, according to preliminary data from the Central Statistics Office. Exports saw 5.6% growth, to €6.9 billion, while imports were 3% higher, at €6.1 billion.

The cabinet has agreed to provide a full guarantee for financing the BKV after the city agreed on extending refinancing of the public transport company's Ft 63 billion debt with seven banks last week. The decision was made just before a Ft 48 billion BKV loan come due.

Industrial output shrank 3.1% in April year-on-year, after dropping an annualised 1.6% in March, according to preliminary unadjusted data from the Central Statistics Office (KSH). Output fell 2.4% month-on-month. In the first five months, industrial output decreased 0.8% year-on-year.

Erste instead said it would consider the request if Hódmezővásárhely first makes a Ft 10 billion early repayment on a Swiss franc bond issued by the town in 2006.
