Analysis into Staggering Erste Bank Hungary Profit Increase: Revenue from Commissions & Fees Up 24%

Operating revenue rose 15pc. Revenue from commissions and fees climbed 24pc. Operating costs were up 15pc. Operating income was up at HUF 234bn from HUF 204bn.
The lender's NPL ratio fell to 1.9pc from 2.6pc. The NPL ratio was 2.4pc in the retail segment and 1.3pc in the corporate segment.
Retail lending stock increased 10pc, while outlays were up 54pc. New mortgage volume was up 133pc and outlays of personal loans increased 44pc. Outlays to SMEs slipped 15pc.
Stock of retail deposits and managed investments reached HUF 6,554bn at the end of December, up 19pc from twelve months earlier.
Corporate lending stock, including bond subscriptions, fell 3pc to HUF 1,094bn. Erste said businesses continue to require less credit than before, and in a business environment that is falling short of expectations, many companies are holding back on investments.
Govt considers countering increase in bank account fees - minister
Bank account fees are rising significantly, National Economy Minister Marton Nagy said on Monday in a post on Facebook suggesting the government could take steps regarding the matter.
"This is not justified, so if necessary, we will take action here too," Nagy said.
