Retail sales of household chemicals and cosmetics in Hungary reached 290 billion forints (EUR 919m) in January-October, up 7% from the same period a year earlier, market researcher Nielsen said. Sales of shower gel were up 12%, tissue sales rose 11% and fabric softener sales increased 10%. Stores bigger than 2,500sqm generated 32% of total turnover during the period.

Hotel occupancy has shot up in Budapest for the weekend when the 30th Formula One Grand Prix will take place on Hungaroring near the capital, daily Napi Gazdaság said on Thursday. The event this year is expected to draw 10% more visitors than in 2014, most of them coming from abroad, the paper said. The Budapest Grand Prix last year attracted a record number of 247,000 spectators, it said.
