On Saturday, January 11, the Transparent Sound New Music Festival will kick off with over twenty programs under a collective theme, with the title “Polychrome,” for almost a month in several Budapest venues, the organizers announced.

Mozart Day, which is gradually becoming a fixture on the spring calendar, celebrates the phenomenon with terrific guest performers – including Arvid Engegård and his quartet, Dezső Ránki, Edit Klukon and Izabella Simon, who also takes care of the children’s programme – playing in the Liszt Academy from morning to late evening.

Poems smuggled of prison, samizdat books the size of a hummingbird, clandestinely distributed video tapes with „western” films, university samizdats, punk magazines, communes, apartment theaters and secret police files – the exhibition presents documents and artefacts from the cultural opposition under communism.
