Online retailers have registered accelerated growth since the ban on Sunday shopping came into force on March 15, according to a survey by GKI Digital and Árukereso.hu. In the first quarter, retail sales were up 16% year-on-year at Ft 30 billion. Tesco posted an annual 85% rise in online sales between March and May.

The index slipped to minus 3.1 points in May from minus 2.9 points in April. The business index dropped to 3.7 points from 4.9, but the consumer index rose to minus 22.6 points from minus 25.0.
