Budapest’s Ugliest Building To Finally Go Under The Hammer

A half-complete building looking over the River Danube in Budapest’s District II, which has been dubbed one of the capital’s greatest eyesores, is to finally go under the hammer after fifteen years. The building, originally constructed as a hotel for members of the Communist-era National Council of Trade Unions (SZOT) in 1971, was demolished in the early 1990s.

Russians Buy Five-Star Hévíz Hotel In Hungary

Property firm AEG, owned by Russian investors, has purchased the five-star Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa in Hévíz, Zala county from CIB Bank, hotel CEO Erzsébet Pusztai confirmed. The price has not been disclosed. Accent Hotel will continue the management of the 232-room facility, where room occupancy was 61.1% last year.

Le Meridien hotel in downtown Budapest will be taken over by the Ritz-Carlton group next year, Turizmus Online reported. The change was announced at the Arab Tourism Fair in Dubai, and was confirmed by Simone Dulies, CEO of the Budapest hotel.
