Vienna Opera Honours Hungarian Conductor Fischer

The Vienna State Opera announced yesterday that Hungarian conductor Ádám Fischer will be elected an honorary member next Thursday. Fischer made his Vienna debut in 1980 and has since conducted orchestras at the world famous opera house about 300 times.

For the first time in Budapest audiences may experience a symphony orchestra performing music to the entire film from one of the most beloved film franchises in history. Live Nation recently announced that the Magyar Virtuozok Orchestra will perform Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on January 21st at Budapest Arena as part of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series.

Celebrated Hungarian pianist, conductor and composer Zoltán Kocsis, who died at age 64 on November 6, was buried in Budapest on Saturday. The late artist was paid final respects at the Hungarian Academy of Music.
