International Wind Instrument Festival, Szekszárd, 10 - 17 August
Thirteen orchestral and solo concerts will be held at five locations in Tolna County as part of this special musical festival,  which will be held for the tenth time between August 10 and 17 - with Szekszárd, Paks and Dunaföldvár also participating.

At the press conference in Szekszárd, tuba artist and festival director László Kovács Zalán said that the aim of the event is to provide a colorful program for excellent Hungarian wind music artists to introduce themselves, and that those interested can also hear foreign performers.

The festival begins on August 10 in Madocsa with a family day, which will feature entertainment and children's programs, as well as the Szolnok Air Force Band, the Bocskai István Reformed Educational Center Wind Ensemble, the Cantores Ecclesiae Brass Ensemble, and trombonist Mátyás Veér.

On August 12, the Hungarian Police Orchestra's Police Gang will give a concert in the courtyard of the County Hall in Szekszárd with soloists Adrienn Mogyoróssy, Ignác Czutor and Myrtill Micheller.

On August 13, the Hungarian Defence Forces Central Orchestra will perform music from well-known films such as Captain America, Cinema Paradiso and Indiana Jones at a multimedia concert in Dunaföldvár Castle.

Zsolt Csizmadia, Chief Conductor of the Hungarian Defence Forces, said at the press conference that 350 musicians play in the defence bands in nine cities.

They consider it important to be active participants in cultural life, and the film music concert will feature songs that appeal to all ages, he added.

The closing concert will be held on August 17th at the Madocsa Reformed Church, where the Pénzügyőr Orchestra will perform with clarinetist György Gyarmati.

Zalán Kovács said that in addition to the concerts, the festival will also offer education.

In Paks and Dunaföldvár, 130 students will study clarinet, saxophone, horn, trombone and tuba in individual instrument and chamber music camps, from basic to advanced levels.

Approximately 20% of the students will be foreign, with students also expected from China and Mongolia.

Foreign art teachers will also give concerts at the festival; on August 15, Polish saxophonist Alicja Wolynczyk and French clarinetist Philippe Cuper, a member of the Paris Opera Orchestra, will play in Dunaföldvár.
