St. Stephen's Day Celebrations In Budapest, 20 August

This year, 20 August celebrations will be held under the slogan “The country – together as one”. A special feature of this year’s events is that the series of programmes Nagyon Balaton (Very Balaton!) will include colourful family events, concerts and fireworks in several towns along the shores of Lake Balaton to commemorate the foundation of the Hungarian State.

Visitors are offered a variety of folk dance shows and concerts on Clark Ádám Square. Stilts parade, inauguration of Hungary’s birthday cake, traditional dancers, folk singers, and the performance of the popular TV production, School of Singing will offer real family entertainment.
Ceremonial Fireworks In Budapest, 20 August

On 20 August 2013, at 9 pm, rockets launched from four discharge sites (three barges and the Chain Bridge) offer the traditional ceremonial play of lights in the capital.

The Grey Cattle Festival, by the foot of the Badacsony hill where it grazes, is mostly a food fest with a cooking competition (beef goulash, etc…) accompanied by folk dance, music and other cultural offerings. And local wines, of course - try the winnerof the Szürkebarát (Pinot Gris) competition.
