Thanks to everyone who came and supported, especially British Ambassador Iain Lindsay OBE for warmly encouraging guests to "dig deep", together we raised HUF 4.236 million.
This is a record fundraising result for XpatLoop's annual bonfire party, with 250 guests uniting for charity. Her Majesty's Ambassador to Hungary wrote afterwards: "Really enjoyed it, very good event." Read on for more ...

Hungary’s opposition parties commented on Donald Trump on winning the United States presidential election. The head of radical nationalist Jobbik voiced hope that relations between Hungary and the US would improve and wished Trump “responsible and wise” decisions in office.

Commenting on Tuesday’s vote, Jobbik leader Gábor Vona said “for Fidesz, it is not the protection of the country that’s important, but the loot.” Head of parliament’s foreign affairs committee Zsolt Németh (Fidesz) said that the government would continue its fight against binding settlement quotas and the next important forum for this will be a December meeting of the European Council.
