HUF 620 Million In Hungary’s Government Funding For Charity Organisations

Minister of State for Social and Family Affairs Miklós Soltész announced today that, compared to 2011, the Government will provide more than twice as much funding for charity organisations as well as raising the number of eligible organisations from three to eight.

A fund-raising event will be held in Budapest at Becketts Irish Bar on Saturday at 7:00 P.M., on the 23rd of November 2013, to support the victims of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in the Philippines. The event is organized by Filipinos and other foreign nationals living in Hungary in cooperation with the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid.

The United States has released a statement that "strongly condemns the shameful event organized by Jobbik, a Hungarian political party identified with ethnic hatred and anti-Semitism, to unveil a bust honoring Nazi ally Miklos Horthy, Hungary’s leader during World War II, at the entrance to the Hungarian Reformed Church at the edge of Szabadsag ter in Budapest on November 3".

Thousands of youth from all over the world, from the most various cultures and ethnic groups, will meet together at Budapest, all moved by the same idea - not only an experience of life but also of social action: unity.

The celebrations will begin on August 19 when the 'Street of Hungarian Flavours' will open at noon between the Buda side of the Erzsébet híd and Bem tér. Awards will be presented for Hungary’s best cake, sugar-free cake and ice cream. Pop music will play on Clark Ádám tér and on Bem tér from 8pm.
