The cost of rented accommodation in Hungary has risen by 5-20% in the last 12 months, and by 30-40% in some regions, estate agency Otthon Centrum found in a new report. Prices rose the most in the outskirts of Budapest, but were flat in the Sixth and Seventh Districts, where rental fees had surged in preceding periods.

The race over the Danube in central Budapest was delayed due to rain and wind; on Saturday, the entire programme was cancelled. The government has announced a call for ideas for developing Budapest’s Gellért Hill, with a budget of Ft 40 million. The aim of the contest is to come up with ideas for revitalising the hill, its buildings, parks and artistic heritage. The Prime Minister’s Office also welcomes suggestions for the use of the Citadella fortress building on top of the hill.
