Margit Island Reopens: “Green Lung” of Budapest is Now Safe Again
Budapest mayor Gergely Karácsony announced on Monday evening that Margit Island would reopen at noon on Tuesday for the first time since the recent flooding.

Péter Dezsényi, head of city gardening company Főkert, said cleaning the island took so long in part because more than 150 trees on the island were protected.

Karácsony said it is again safe to walk, jog and spend time on the island.
