A memorial wall recalling Budapest’s wartime Jewish ghetto was dedicated in the Seventh District on Thursday, with an interactive map showing the history of the quarter. The project was funded by the United Hungarian Jewish Religious Community (EMIH) and the district council.

The Capital Court will merge the trials of the Feny assassination and the Aranykéz utca explosion, the judge announced yesterday, as Jozef Rohác is the chief suspect in both crimes. The first trial of the merged case is set for November.

Traffic changes will be made in public transport service and on roads and Danube bridges on the eve and the day of St. Stephen’s Day (Tuesday, 19 August and Wednesday, 20 August 2014). Already on 19 August 2014, traffic restrictions will be in place at several locations in the city due to preparations for the celebrations, therefore some public transport lines will run on modified routes.

Hungary will organise a film week again this year, Ágnes Havas, head of the Hungarian National Film Fund, told the US entertainment website variety.com. Hungarian Film Week was last held in 2012 and has been facing funding problems for years.
