This is one of the most colourful days on the Budapest social calendar and this year’s did not disappoint either. As the sunbeams cascaded across Szabadsag ter and balloons floated in the sky to the sound of bagpipes, you knew it was St. Patrick’s Day.

József Rippl-Rónai had at least as great an impact on modern Hungarian art as Aristide Maillol had on modern European sculpture.
